6th Grade Principal's Message

Dear Families:

I would like to formally welcome you to Frelinghuysen Middle School! We are a diverse and dynamic learning community of over 1,000 students of which a little more than 360 are in Grade 6. We are incredibly excited to unveil our new 6th Grade Academy for the 2024-2025 school year. This new experience will afford our students all the incredible opportunities a large middle school has to offer in a highly supportive environment. Our 6th graders will be able to participate in our expansive menu of athletic and extracurricular offerings while taking their academic classes in close proximity to their grade level peers to ease transition.

The start of middle school is an opportunity for our students to pursue and explore their passions both inside and outside of the classroom. This year it is our primary goal to provide rigorous academic opportunities for your child each and everyday in an environment where they feel safe, included, and valued for who they are. Developing young people that possess strong academic and social-emotional skills in conjunction with being a contributing member of our community are at the heart of our mission. Our dedicated and passionate faculty work tirelessly with our students to ensure this pivotal transition year to middle school is not only memorable but one where your child feels connected to all things FMS.   

You as our families play a critical role in the education process as the partnership between home and school is paramount. I encourage you to get involved in your child’s education and to stay connected to all that is going on at our school. I am always available to support your child in any way.
