A World of Opportunity

7th & 8th Grade Principal's Message

Mr U

I want to warmly welcome you to the Frelinghuysen Middle School Community.

As your 7th and 8th grade principal, it is my sincere pleasure to work with our dedicated staff to help provide an excellent educational experience for our students. We are proud to belong in a vibrant and diverse community and know that FMS reflects those same values.

We are committed to ensuring that your children receive the best support during these important formative middle years. At FMS, we continue to embrace innovation and best instructional strategies in engaging learning environments to prepare our students for the challenges of an unknown and changing future. And for that to happen, our school environment must be equitable, inclusive and safe for all our students to reach their full potential. FMS students will be immersed in an educational experience that inspires and motivates them to be lifelong learners and caring contributors to the world around them.

With just over 1000 students under our 6th through 8th grade roof, our size is also our strength.  We are large enough to offer many exciting and innovative learning opportunities that inspire student’s creativity and problem solving skills in the classroom,  art room, technology lab, band room and even on the stage. But we also know that Middle School is a time for taking risks, learning new skills and developing independence, resiliency and other life skills.  With our House System (Tiger, Phoenix and Dragon), we are creating that smaller, tight knitted school community for our students and their teachers where they can hone those skills. With the importance of an interdisciplinary team of teachers and counselors, students benefit from a group of professionals that articulate and collaborate regularly.  Each staff member is committed to providing a challenging but nurturing learning environment that meets the individual needs of each student, both academically, emotionally and socially.

We cannot do this alone. Families, teachers, support staff, and the administrative team all play a part in helping our students develop academically, socially, and emotionally. A strong partnership between home and school fosters greater success for our children. So stay connected and get involved as parents and guardians.  Together, we can create a school community that thrives on mutual respect, support, and understanding.

I wish your family, and especially your student, great success. Go Falcons!

Warm Regards,

Dr. Lia Lendis
